I almost cried when I saw this ipe and maple bowl had slipped during glue-up. The design requires extreme precision; it's only misaligned by a millimetre or two, but a millimetre is enough to ruin the product. As a result, this bowl sits on my fireplace mantle with the misaligned side facing away instead of going up for sale. Other than that, I love how it turned out; ipe is a very dense wood and maple's hard too, but it is still feather light when picked up, and the scalloped edges offset the straight stripes beautifully.

The bowl is finished with hemp oil and polished with carnuba wax to give it a warm glow and silky feel. I included an in-progress photo showing my custom-made bowl gluing clamp.
